So many parents tell me they are time poor, overwhelmed by all of the information on the internet and not really sure if what they are feeding their children is really healthy and nutritious.
I have one daughter who is tall and thriving and will eat almost anything (except avocado can you believe!) and another who has incredible energy but would prefer to eat spaghetti bolognaise and sugary foods at any chance she gets. This is a constant battle, as I am sure it is for many of you.
Both of the girls are generally always well and I believe one of the reasons is that I insist on 3 basic things at every meal. I ask myself where is the protein, carbohydrate and fat in this meal?
Very simply, these 3 things are your child’s essential source of energy, and good nutrition requires a balance of these 3 sources. There is a rule that too much of one of these sources will lead to ill health, obesity and potentially other health issues.
For more info on the benefits and the sources of protein, carbohydrates and fats see my other articles.
